Não há um acontecimento surpreendente no longa que empolgasse, às cenas de ação são pouco criativas e inspiradores, e grande parte dos momentos do filme são previsíveis. A parte dramática do longa foi bem trabalhada e pensada, mas, ao mesmo tempo, faltou explorar melhor a origem do vírus. Com isso, a franquia tem o seu desfecho com conteúdo incompleto. Apesar dê os problemas citados e dos defeitos que há em todo filme, essa franquia adolescente se comparada a outras, até que se saiu bem no final dentro dos padrões aceitáveis. Tem que ser considerado a inexperiência do diretor Wes Ball, espero que no futuro ele nos traga trabalhos ainda melhores.
